James Murphy Wins Minor Singles 2017

Peter Muir, Sunday, 26 March 2017

The weather was almost perfect for a game of bowls today. Considering the rubbish we have experienced across the state over the last month or more. A few scattered clouds and generally sunny with a very slight breeze, nothing to trouble either of the player.

There was a sprinkling of spectators. Helped by one of the Major Singles Semi final on an adjacent rink. Umpire Colin Horne was on hand and all player thanked him for his time.

James was out of the blocks early picking up 7 on the first two ends. By the eighth end he was leading 17 - 5 whilst going about his business in a methodical manner. On fifteen ends James was leading 25 - 9. At this point Michael had a resurgence  and picked up 9 almost on the trot. So by twenty the score was 26 - 18 to James.

On the next James collected a 4 when Michael had a rush of blood driving at the head and missing it completely. Michael did regaing his composure and collected a valuable single. However on the next James drew one for shot and the match with the result being 31 - 19.

Men's Club President Andy Little was on hand to present the winners medal. Well done guys an entertaining match overall. Congratulations to James Murphy worthy winner of the Club Minior Singles 2017.
